We provide excellent employee benefits at Yuma Elementary School District One. A summary of general information is provided below:


Insurance and Leave Benefits

Employee Benefits for eligible employees:

General Leave:
General leave will be granted at a total of ten (10) days per year; 52 week employees will be granted a total of twelve (12) days. Employees will be advanced five (5) days of general leave upon hire, which may be prorated depending on the date of commencement. The remaining five (5) days will be accrued throughout the year.

Medical/Dental/Vision/Life Insurance:
The District will pay $5,164.80 per year for an eligible employee’s health insurance premium which includes a $20,000 Life Insurance policy. The employee can enroll their spouse, dependent(s), or entire family in the same plan at a cost which is pre-taxed to the employee through payroll deduction. Arizona State Retirement:
The District matches the employee’s contribution of 9.60% for retirement and .25% for long term disability for a total of 9.85%.

Social Security/Medicare:
The District pays 6.2% for Social Security and matches the employee’s deduction of 1.45% for Medicare.  The employee’s Social Security deduction is 6.2%.

Flex Benefit Program (Voluntary Benefit):
The Flex Plan is designed to allow you to set aside pre-taxed dollars through payroll deduction for the payment of specific medical expenses, medications not covered entirely by the health insurance, and/or childcare expenses for you and your family.

Sun Life Insurance (Voluntary Benefit):
You may elect to purchase additional term life insurance through payroll deduction for yourself, spouse, and/or dependents. Rates are according to the value of the policy, your annual salary, and age.

Union Security Benefits Insurance Company-Short Term Disability (Voluntary Benefit):
Employees may purchase short-term disability insurance through payroll deduction and could be eligible to receive the benefit after you have been continuously unable to work for a period of at least (5) days which is payable for up to six (6) months during the period of eligible disability. Rates are determined by your annual salary.

Aetna Company – Behavioral Health Counseling Services:
The District will pay for up to ten (10) free counseling sessions for all employees and their dependents.

Arizona School Tax Credit:
This tax credit is a cash contribution paid to a public school for support of extra-curricular activities. The election amount for single or head of household taxpayers cannot exceed $200. The amount for married that file joint returns cannot exceed $400. You may pay through payroll deduction if you wish to participate in the Arizona Tax Credit Program.
