Transportation Department
To reach a transportation representative immediately, please call 928-502-8840.
We provide free school bus transportation to students who reside one and a half miles or more away from the school in their regular attendance area. We support all district transportation needs, including special needs transportation, accommodating all extracurricular and activity trip busing needs, and providing vehicles for employees to attend workshops and conferences.

Safety First
Our Transportation Department is dedicated to safely transporting children to and from school. Our students’ safety requires shared cooperation and responsible actions by the bus driver, students, and their parents. Our transportation staff is committed to providing safe buses and bus stops as well as well-trained drivers. We require our drivers to meet state and federal training regulations. Safety is always our number one consideration as we establish bus routes and provide student transportation.
Transportation Frequently Asked Questions
I have a child with special needs. How do I coordinate a bus stop?
Please visit your school’s front office to complete a transportation request form. The school will forward your request to the transportation department. Within three to five business days, the transportation team will contact you with your child’s bus stop information.
Will I receive a call when the bus arrives to drop off my student with special needs?
Drivers do not make individual calls at each stop. We kindly ask that parents or guardians be at the designated stop five to ten minutes before the scheduled drop-off time.
My child missed the bus. Can the bus return?
For general education riders, buses are unable to return. For students with special needs, a return trip may be arranged after the current route is completed, or the next available bus may be sent. *Please note this process could take an extended amount of time based on driver availability.
We were waiting in the car and saw the school bus pass by. Why didn’t the driver stop?
Students must be physically present at the bus stop five to ten minutes before the scheduled arrival. The bus driver will not stop if there are no students visibly present at the bus stop.
Can my child ride the school bus home with a friend?
For safety and accountability, students must ride their assigned bus and use their designated stop.
Can a general education student ride a special needs bus?
Due to specialized accommodations and safety requirements, general education students are not permitted to ride on buses designated for students with special needs.
The school bus is running late. Why wasn’t I notified?
The transportation department utilizes ParentSquare to send notifications about route delays. Please contact your school office to ensure all contact information is correct so you will receive timely notifications.
Can someone else pick up my child at the bus stop?
If a parent or guardian is unavailable, students may only be released to individuals listed on the school’s emergency contact list. Persons receiving students from the bus may be asked to provide a valid ID.
Can my child be released from the bus without me being present?
Kindergarten and special needs students are only released to a parent, guardian, or authorized individual listed on the school’s emergency contact list. Persons receiving students from the bus may be asked to provide a valid ID. All other students may disembark on their own.
Can the bus driver or bus aide escort my child to the front door?
For the safety of our staff, drivers, and aides cannot escort a student to their home. A parent/guardian should be present at the bus stop five to ten minutes before the designated arrival time.
Can my child be released to me at a location other than the designated bus stop?
Students can only be released at their assigned bus stop or school.
In case of an accident or bus breakdown, can I pick up my student directly from the bus?
For safety reasons, students will be transported to their designated stops once cleared by emergency or transportation personnel. Please wait at the regular stop unless instructed otherwise by transportation staff.
How will I be notified of delays, breakdowns, or emergencies?
Status updates will be communicated via text message through ParentSquare. Be sure to keep your contact information up to date with your school office to ensure you receive notifications.
Can the temperature on the school bus be cooler?
Buses are cooled to the extent possible, but can only maintain a temperature approximately 20°F below the outside temperature. Frequent door openings for the on-boarding and off-boarding of students reduces overall cooling efficiency.
My child is starting to ride the bus. Is paperwork required?
If your child does not have an IEP (Individualized Education Plan), no additional paperwork is necessary. However, it is recommended that you notify your child’s teacher so they are aware of any change in transportation.
The bus passes by my house every day — why can’t it stop at my home?
Bus stops are strategically placed in collective, community-accessible locations to ensure reasonable efficiency and safety. For general education students, home stops are not provided. Instead, students will use their assigned neighborhood bus stop.
